Rick Gustafson A.C.S.W., L.C.S.W., began his
professional career in 1968 at McClean Hospital in Belmont, MA working with the chronically mentally ill. His interest in
human service led him to a variety of interests in the 70s including childcare for the economically disadvantaged, psychiatric
treatment for children and adolescents and the founding of the Free University (Indianapolis). He has served on many volunteer
boards and has had many volunteer positions, most notably, past president of The Greater Indianapolis Council on Alcoholism
and Other Drug Dependencies, Pathway to Recovery, Inc., and Offender Aid and Restoration. As an O.A.R. volunteer, Rick has
facilitated a group at the Marion County Jail for the past twenty years. He has served in a direct service capacity and as
an administrator in both for-profit and not-for-profit addictions and mental health facilities. Rick earned his BSW in 1984,
his MSW in 1985, ACSW in 1988, CCSW in 1993, and his LCSW in 1998. He has been in full-time private practice since 1989. He
continues serving a variety of business and industries, as well as conducting groups, in-services, and workshops locally and
nationally. Rick currently co-facilitates the Aftercare Groups for the Indiana State Medical Association for impaired physicians
and dentists, maintains a private practice and operates a program called Beacon House for individuals in early recovery.
